World vitiligo day 2023 was organised by Dept of Dermatology. SSMC. Tumkur. It was inaugurated by watering plants by Vitiligo pt's. Patients shared their experiences with audience ( doctors). Pt educational slides were displaced and doubts regarding the disease was clarified by consultants.s
A guest lecture on ‘Research and Innovation’ was organized on 22nd June 2023 by the Department of Community Medicine, SSMC. The lecture was delivered by Dr R P Pai, Emeritus Professor, NITTE, a renowned personality in the field of Community Medicine, Surgery and Clinical Research.
The programme started at 11.30 am on 22nd June 2023, in Nagarjuna Hall. It was presided by Dr Lingegowda K B, Vice-chancellor, SSAHE, Dr M Z Kurian, Registrar, SSAHE, Dr Vivek V, Advisor to Chancellor, Dr Mallikarjuna B Sanikop, Principal, Dr Prabhakara, Vice-Principal, Dr Manjunath G N, Vice-principal (Academics), Dr Praveen Kudva, Principal, SSDC and Dr Krishna Iyengar, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine and also Professor and Heads of various departments, their staff, postgraduates and undergraduate students.
The programme began with the welcome address by Dr Krishna Iyengar, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, followed by invocation song ang watering of the plant. The guest speaker was introduced by Dr Venkatesh P, Professor, Department of Community Medicine. This was followed by lecture on ‘Research and Innovation’ by Dr R P Pai. The programme gave clarity with regard to research and innovation. Various scenarios were quoted to highlight the faculty and student capacities in this regard. The event ended with vote of thanks at 1.00 pm.
A one-day CME was organized by the Department of Community Medicine, SSMC on 7 th June 2023 at Nagarjuna Seminar Hall, SSMC was inaugurated by the Dr Linge Gowda K B, Vice Chancellor (SSAHE), Dr M Z Kurian, Registrar (SSAHE), Dr. Prabhakara G N, Principal SSMC, Dr Manjunath G N, Vice Principal, Dr. N S Venkatesh, Medical Superintendent and Dr Krishna Iyengar, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine SSMC.
Dr. Krishna Iyengar, Professor and HOD, Department of Community Medicine welcomed all the dignitaries. Dr Linge Gowda KB, vice chancellor addressed the gathering and advised all doctors and students to spread the knowledge among the people. Dr Prabhakara GN principal highlighted the importance of diseases like malaria, TB to all medical personnel irrespective of the specialty and also directed that the lessons learnt should be made use of to achieve zero malaria case.
Prize distribution to medical and nursing students was done for the winners in Poster and Role Play Competition conducted on 31 st May 2023 as a part of observing “World No Tobacco Day”. Dr Ramya KS, Associate professor, department of Community Medicine SSMC delivered the vote of thanks.
Dr Bharath Nag N, Assistant professor, Department of Community Medicine SSMC made opening remarks on the subject. This was followed by the lecture on topic “Steady progress towards vector borne disease control: Opportunities & Challenges” by, Dr Ravi Kumar K, Independent public health consultant. Dr. Shrinivasa BM, Scientist C, ICMR National Institute of Malaria Research spoke on the topic “Malaria Status- in Indian context & future research” . Dr B.M Chandrashekar, District vector borne officer, Tumkur, narrated on “Status of malaria and vector borne diseases in Tumkur district.
A panel discussion was conducted on the subject theme. The panelists were Dr Venkatesh P, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Dr Ravi Kumar K, Independent public health consultant, Dr Shrinivasa BM, Scientist C, ICMR National Institute of Malaria Research, Dr B.M Chandrashekar, District vector borne officer, Tumkur. Dr Venkatesh P, moderator rendered the closing remarks and expressed the vote of thanks to all panelists and the audience.
IADVL MISSION PRISON FREE SKIN HEALTH CAMP at CENTAL PRISON TUMKUR (president IADVL initiative) was organised in association with Tumkur Dermatologist Association ( TDS) & Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur on 07/06/2023. Total of 400 pt were screened and 91 inmates were given treatment for various skin problems. Mission Prision 2023 is been conducted throught out India . We were first to conduct in our Karnataka state.
