Goals:
- To provide comprehensive knowledge of the gross and microscopic structure and development of the human body to provide a basis for understanding the clinical correlation of organs or structures involved and the anatomical basis for the disease presentation.

Course outcomes:
At the end of Ist MBBS course students should be able to:
Anatomy:
CO01-Dissect and identify the organs and know the anatomical relations.
CO02 - Identify normal histology slides.
CO03 - Know development of organs.
Objectives:
- Train undergraduate and postgraduate students using both traditional and innovative methods.
- Develop new tools and methods of teaching to impart training effectively.
- Promote and participate in basic research and disseminate its results.
- Evaluate self and the curriculum periodically to improve training of undergraduate & postgraduate students.
Skills:
At the end of the course the student shall be able to:
- Identify and locate all the structures of the body and mark the topography of the living anatomy.
- Identify the organs and tissues under the microscope: Understand the principles of karyotyping and identify the gross congenital anomalies; Understand the principles of newer imaging techniques like Computerized Tomography Scan (CTS); Interpretation of Plain and contrast X-rays.
- Understand clinical basis of some common clinical procedures.
Ethics, Attitude & Communication:
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Respect in handling the cadaver and human tissue.
- Respect towards the patients, clinicians and other healthcare workers during early clinical exposure.
- Communicate effectively with peers, faculty, patients and other staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality, integrity, accountability and social responsibility.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and be a leader in team-based &/or small group activities.
